This stunning yet simple pendant features a mounted Victorian era preserved scarab beetle and is finished with a fine vintage chain. The scarabs used in these reworks were saved from a very damaged Victorian bracelet.

The scarab was perceived to be a tremendously powerful symbol, capable of providing both protection and good fortune, which would explains its long use in special jewellery and amulets.

*In vintage costume jewellery, all that glitters is not pure gold. The base metal of rings, necklaces, brooches, and bracelets is plated, washed, or flashed with gold of a fineness of around 10ct. When gold is plated onto sterling silver, the result is known as vermeil.
